Cinque Ports
Cinque Ports is a five part heritage themed podcast series created in collaboration with learning disabled adults from East Sussex. Project participants created stories, original music and adaptations of historical songs. The confederation of the Cinque ports is a historic group of coastal towns in Kent and Sussex, England, established in the 11th century to provide ships and men for the Crown in exchange for privileges.

‘Throughout the project, our members developed important transferable skills including literacy, communication, and teamwork. They gained confidence in expressing their ideas, collaborating with others, and contributing to a shared creative outcome. The process also encouraged active listening, rhythm and timing, and a great sense of fun—all within the context of an educational heritage-based project.’

Ponswood Stories
Ponswood stories is a ten part heritage themed podcast series created in collaboration with learning disabled adults in East Sussex exploring the everyday working heritage of Ponswood Industrial Estate in St Leonards on Sea, East Sussex, England. Participants interviewed local people about their experiences working on the estate and shared personal stories and original music.

‘This project offered a unique and meaningful opportunity for our members— adults with learning disabilities—to explore local heritage in a creative and accessible way. Through interviews with individuals who had worked in Ponswood industrial estate across the past few decades, our members played an active role in capturing and preserving important community stories’
