Education

Our schools and college outreach programme is based on co-producing high quality imaginative and innovative music and visual art projects that supports the national curriculum as well as creating a unique and memorable experience for the young people we work with. We have collaborated with primary and secondary schools as well as colleges and in higher education settings. We work in mainstream and SEN settings. We are focused on supporting young people to co-design project content and set goals.

Our project work involved exploring different art forms and processes. We use accessible techniques , a wide range of visual media, musical instruments and adaptive technology

Research and Development

We work with SEND schools and colleges to develop new ways of working that incorporate sensory play, music making, accessible teaching strategies and technology. We work alongside teaching staff to develop our practice and trial new ways of working. We offer themed projects that compliment the curriculum and provide unique and memorable experiences for children and young people. We incorporate CPD training for teaching staff as part of our schools offer. If you are interested in working with us to deliver a project in a school please contact us via our contact page or email: sam@lifesize.org.uk

Sound Story

An example of a project idea we have developed is a sound story. It involves combining a variety of accessible creative story making and music tools, exploring the exciting sounds of everyday object and using technology to create sound clips. SEND pupils devised a story and set it to an audio backing which they created using sound effects and original musical ideas . Hear the finished piece here:

‘A fantastic sequence of lessons. The children were engaged with the entire process. The balance of using real objects to make sounds and then digitally manipulating those sounds was spot on and the children were engaged with both.’
